Lawyer Hails Police Anti-Cultism Battle
A Port Harcourt based lawyer, Barr. J.P. Ebenezer has comm-ended the Rivers State Police Command over clampdown on cultism.
Barr. Ebenezer, who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday noted that the recent arrest of cultists across the state would help to achieve a lasting peace.
He said that, if the effort was sustained cultism would find it difficult to thrive.
According to him, “cultism had survived on the lack of will by the larger society to fight the monster”
“We can stamp out cultism if we really want to. We know the members; some of them are our brothers, children and relatives. It will take the concerted effort of all to achieve zero level of cultism,” he added.
The Port Harcourt lawyer explained that most youths were lured into cultism by the seeming success of others.
He said cultism had killed more persons than even the dreaded Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV)/AIDs.
Barr. Ebenezer remarked that when the society stopped giving roles to cultists, the need to join cultism would abate.
He described cultism as a canker worm that did nobody any good.
Barr. Ebenezer also commended the Rivers State Commissioner of Police for the machineries put in motion to checkmate cultism.
He noted that all hands should be on deck until the society is cleared of the miscreants and criminals.
