Lagos To Hold Housing Fair, April 25

Government has said that it will be holding a Housing Fair beginning from April 25.
The vice chairman of the Lagos Housing Fair (LHF) committee, Mr. Mose Ogunleye, in an interaction with journalist said this year’s fair would consider values and benefits in production, application and promotion of indigenous  material of all types.
He noted that by now the country ought to have been a leader in the export of various types of building  materials.
Ogunleye reasoned that the provisions of the National Housing Policy of 2011, which has as its core goal the hastening  of the  development appropriate capacities to achieve sufficiency, in production of basic building materials and components of acceptable qualities from local sources.
He said, “there is a need for attention on the provisions of housing particularly now that the emphasis of the government is on the diversification of the economy”.
He further said, specific attention needed  to be  given to the values and benefits in the production, application and promotion of indigenous materials.
The LHF would to  as on encumbrances  in the channels of turning locally-made  items into other products for  construction purposes and wealth  creation.
The fair would witness 85 exhibitors who would participate  and is  expected to be declared open by former Nigeria’s former vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.
On her part, the chairman, planning committee, LHP, Mrs. Abiola Willians said, “Organizations that will exhibit their products are those that are already manufacturing local building products.
The fair in its 15 years of existence, has been a veritable tool to creating awareness on design and indigenous materials.
