Groups Condemn Killing Of Army Colonel

(CD), has urged the Nigeria Army to carry out thorough  investigation into the murder of Col. Samaila Inusa.
National Publicity Secretary of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Mr Uzor Uzor, told newsmen  in Enugu that the killing of the officer was “despicable, wicked and uncalled for’’.
Army authorities last Tuesday confirmed the murder of Inusa, serving at its School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna, after he was abducted by unknown gunmen in Kaduna on March 27.
His decomposing body was found around Ajyiata village, off Eastern Bypass, Kaduna.
Uzor said that the army should not forget to question army personnel on the matter, while looking at possible involvement of insurgency groups and sects, whose values ran against secular belief.
“This is a dangerous omen and one that creates fear in the minds of Nigerians; if a well-trained, high-ranking army officer would be kidnapped and murdered, what happens to ordinary citizens?
“This incident is a wake-up call to take the issue of security of lives and properties in the country to the next level,’’ he said.
In his reaction, Chairman of Congress of Civil Societies, Mr Damian Ogudike, said that the incident was least expected in a democratic setting.
Ogudike said that the  ugly development  was a clear indication of the porous security situation in the country.
“This horrifying security development tells the world how deteriorated our internal security is,’’ he said.
The activist called on the Nigerian Army to conduct diligent and conclusive investigation into the matter.
“The Federal Government should set up security in all ramifications to protect the citizens the more,’’ he added.
