Emordi Ready To Return
Former Kano Pillars coach,
Felix Okey Emordi, has disclosed that his job hunting may soon be over as he looks forward to landing a lucrative appointment.
This followed his recent bereavement, and appendicitis surgery, which left him incapacitated, albeit temporarily.
The seasoned coach, who has won laurels at both local and continental levels, has been out of work since he was sacked by Kano Pillars last July.
He was later courted by a few interested teams, but according to him, he decided to lie low and survey the terrain before taking a plunge.
“In other words, I had to just take it easy with myself and rest for a while before taking a decision,” he said.
“But again, I was compelled to apply the brakes after losing my elder brother, and then I had to go under the knife for appendicitis.”
Rated amongst the top five coaches in Nigeria, Emordi was voted Africa’s Coach of the Year in 2004 after leading Enyimba to a successful defence of their CAF Champions League title.
He has also handled Enugu Rangers among other big teams, and in 2006-2007 season, had a short stint in South Africa’s Premier League as coach of the defunct Bush Bucks Fe.
Last November, Emordi was close to signing a deal to return as coach of Enugu Rangers, but the management eventually opposed the idea and instead stuck with incumbent handler, Imama Amapakabo.
