The Chairman of the association, Solomon Alao, made the assertion when he spoke with newsmen  in Lagos about the state of the sport.
He said that the only way to discover and retain the continuous production of talents was to have a vibrant and structured youth development plan.
“We are trying to revive the sport and are convinced that we have abundant talents in the country.
“We hope to produce a long-term youth development plan whereby talents are well groomed.
“So, we have decided to make scrabble popular in the state by introducing the sport in secondary schools, monotechnics and also in the polytechnics,’’ he said.
Alao said that they are aware of the task and acknowledge that the body could not do it alone.
“We are therefore, seeking the support of lovers of scrabble and well meaning Nigerians to come to our aid in order to make it work.’’
He said that the first tournament in the youth development plan would commence in the third quarter of the year.
Alao said that the association intended that scrabble stakeholders would take full ownership of the youth development project.
