Youth Broker Peace In Omoku

Ahead of tomorrow’s rerun polls in Rivers State, leaders of The Concerned Rivers Youth have resolved to ensure a free and peaceful election in the Orashi region of the state.
The Concerned Youth which deliberated exhaustively on the need to stop the mayhem and find lasting solution to lingering crisis in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state in a meeting in Port Harcourt Thursday vowed to finally and permanently solve the crisis in Omoku and return the Orashi region to the path of peace and re-conciliation.
They resolved to cease fire and hostilities against each other on all fronts for three weeks to allow for a peaceful and free election in Omoku and the entire Orashi region.
The youth also agreed to allow voters to freely exercise their franchise by voting for candidates of their choice without any form of harassment, intimidation or hindrance.
They resolved to pass the information of cessation of hostilities and  ensure compliance by all the  groups and their field officers throughout the election period until further notice.
They agreed to reconvene after the election to further deepen negotiation on the best way to bring the crisis to a permanent end in the interest of the people and also to work in partnership with relevant organizations to re-integrate the victims and members of the aggrieved groups into the society through well articulated sustainable programmes, including vocational and other skills acquisition schemes.
