The Nigeria Table Ten
nis Federation (NTTF) on Tuesday said that the U-16 National League would serve off from March 29 to April 8.
The competition would hold at the knock up hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
Secretary-General of NTTF Chinedu Ezealah-Ogundare, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos, said that the league was one of the federation’s programme to engage young players.
“Our main target now is the young players. The young ones and the cadet players are our major priority.
“The league is a talent discovery competition that will also help to strengthen their skills.
“There are many of the young players that need to be identified and groomed to stardom,’’ she said.
According to Ezealah-Ogundare, the league is open to states with table tennis players.
“All the states are welcomed; we are hoping to see state associations taking part. All states are expected to register their players.
“When all state associations are involved in participation, it will be keenly competed for and that will also make it an interesting competition,” she stressed.
The Secretary-General, however, stressed that the closing date for registration would be on March 25.
“We are going to be strict with the closing date for entries. We need our people to be time conscious.
“We are going to maintain the stipulated date so as to imbibe discipline in the sport,’’ Ezealah-Ogundare said.
