Re-Run Polls: Wike Woos Rivers Voters …As PDP Trains 5,000 LG, Ward Agents

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has warned Rivers people never to make mistake of not returning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next re run elections in the state.
Governor Wike who gave the warning at the Ground-Breaking ceremony of Rumuwoji Market,(Mile One Market) Phase two said the present administration must make progress in all its projects in the state.
The Governor assured that his administration would fulfill all promises made during his electioneering campaign, and appealed for support from those who can help him move the state forward.
According to him,’’ You have to help and vote PDP candidates who can influence me to execute more projects. Hon. Mrs Blessing Charles Nsiegbe has been able to prove that she will do better. She has done more than others who represented the constituency in the past’’.
He urged the Contractor handling the project, Mourier Construction Company (MCC) to ensure that the project is completed on time, stressing that he would want the traders to go back to their shades.
Wike however commended the Rumwoji Community for their support and assured that the state government would always protect their interest.
Earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive of MCC, Senator John Mbata said the project is private partnership, while the state government is providing the land; the company is funding the project.
Mbata said the company is proposing a car park that would contain about 256 cars opposite the market and also construct over head foot bridge from the car park to the market.
He also urged the government to acquire the two adjoining buildings to ensure that more facilities are in place.
Meanwhile, ahead of the forthcoming state and national assembly re-run elections in Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party has started training its local government and ward agents in the state.
The training, which is targeted at the role of polling agents in democratic elections, is expected to train over 5,000 PDP agents in the state.
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Felix Obuah, charged the trainees to always be law-abiding and follow the electoral guidelines in the coming rerun elections in the state.
The Rivers East senatorial candidate, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, said the training is put in place by the party to update the agents.
Some of the participants at the training workshop told our correspondent, that the training has impacted positively on them.
