Police Parade 30 Suspects In Enugu

Command has paraded over 30 suspected criminals that have been terrorizing innocent citizens of the state and its environs in recent times.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Ekechukwu Nwodibo, who disclosed this to journalists, said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state for allegedly committing different crimes, including kidnapping, murder, possession of fake currency, impersonation, among others.
Nwodibo also alleged that 35 pieces of suspected fake one thousand naira {N1000) note were recovered from some of the victims suspected to have been circulating fake currency in the state.
He averred that three of the suspects identified as Emenike Onoyima, Jude Mmah and Mba Chinedu from Umuezejor Obollo-Afor in Udenu local government were arrested on February 3, 2016 at No. 1, Timber RoadIsiakp Nsukka for allegedly kidnapping one Mrs Makata Elochukwu and her driver, Bernard Ameh.
The suspects, the commissioner alleged held their victim hostage until February 7, 2016, adding that operatives of the command stormed the kidnappers’ hideout at Umuezejor Obollo-Afor and rescued Mrs Elochukwu, lamenting that the driver was found dead.
He disclosed further that one locally made gun with 3 live cartridges and a Nokia phone suspected to be property of their victim were recovered from the suspects.
The Enugu Police Command’s boss also stated that three other suspects were arrested at Emene for allegedly murdering the son of police officer and manager of a hotel, adding that one of the suspects who attempted to jump down from the van that was conveying them to the police office died after hitting his body on an object.
The commissioner also disclosed that Mr Sunday Oka, Abea Johnson and Henry Nwankwo from Ezeagu in Isielu local Government of Ebonyi State were arrested for impersonation and possession of fake currency, stating that Sunday Oka allegedly presented himself to the Divisional Police Officer of New Heaven Police Station as a naval officer with a view to facilitating the release of his accomplice, Abea and Henry Nwankwo.
“He was wearing a Navy Cap and T-shirt as at the time of the incident. On further questioning by the DPO, it was discovered that the said Sunday Oka does not belong to either the Nigerian Navy or any of the Nigerian Armed Forces or the Police and Paramilitary” he stated.
