Live Above Board, Contractor Urges NDDC
The Acting Managing
Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDD), Mrs Ibim Semenitari, has been charged to live above board and ensure that the aim of the commission is activated during her tenure.
The Manager, Rovin Resources, Mr Geo Ikechi, said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, recently.
He said since the NDDC was created to oversee the welfare of the Niger Deltans, it would be out of place to run the agency on party basis.
Ikechi who said he was a licenced contractor with the commission, maintained that the only way to run the establishment was to maintain an open-door policy.
According to him, Niger Deltans are looking up to the acting managing director, for the expected change since its inception.
He explained that the commission was never created on any party platform, saying that its leader must be a seasoned administrator with the sole target to develop the region.
The contractor who is also an educationist regretted that NDDC was yet to better the lot of Niger Delta people.
He alleged that most resources from the area were used to develop the Northern region as well as the federal capital.
As a way forward, he said the acting managing director, must identify all loopholes in the system and seal same for the interest of the people.
Meanwhile, he has appealed with Semenitari to consider the hardship faced by contractors and quicken the process of payment for executed contracts.
