Leicester’s Kante Poised For France Call-Up
Leicester City
midfielder N’Golo Kante is poised to receive a call-up to the French national team for upcoming friendlies against Russia and the Netherlands.
Kante, 24, has been one of the Premier League’s outstanding players this season, with his role in midfield integral to the Foxes establishing a five point lead atop the league standings.
Having joined Leicester from Caen for a mere £5.6m last year, Kante is arguably the signing of the season.
With Euro 2016 on the horizon, France head coach Didier Deschamps is eager to involve Kante in his plans and, with Lassana Diarra out injured, the Paris-born midfielder is tipped to be named in Les Bleus’ squad tomorrow.
Kante, who has made 29 league appearances this season, has in the past been approached by Mali and was reportedly considering representing the Eagles at international level. He qualifies for Mali through his parents.
