Kalabaris Pass Votes Of Confidence On LG Boss
Stakeholders in the three
local government areas of Rivers State have passed votes of confidence on the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government council, Hon Sobomabo Jachree for restoring peace and security in Kalabari land.
The stakeholders’ position was made known in a communiqué read by their leader, Prophet Omonaa Sit Amachree at a peace and development meeting in Buguma, the traditional headquarters of Kalabari Kingdom in the state.
According to the group, the appointment of Hon Jachrees as C.T.C. Chairman in the area has reduced the incessant cases of kidnapping and robbery that had once grounded the smooth running of economic and social development in the area.
The communiqué also lauded the C.T.C. boss for running an all inclusive government which according to them, has reduced political tension in the area.
The statement commended Governor Nyesom Wike for appointing Hon Jachree and other members of the caretaker committee, saying the governor indeed made a good choice.
The group called on other Kalabaris in government to emulate the good leadership, empowerment of youths and women in the area.
The communiqué also called on youths in the area to shun violence and political thuggery during the forthcoming rerun election in the area. Meanwhile, the Co-ordinator of the group, Tonye Cotterell, reiterated the stakeholders support to peace and development of Kalabari land.
Mr Cotterell said, the stakeholders forum has put in place necessary measures to ensure peaceful and violence-free rerun elections in the area.
He warned that, the forum would not hesitate to expose any youth who perpetrates violence before and during the election.
