It was celebration all the
way in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) local government coalition a joined other well meaning Nigerians to celebrate the Supreme Court judgement that upheld  the electoral victory Governor of the state, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. The celebration was marked by special prayers, thanksgiving service, gospel songs among others.
Speaking with The Tide Entertainment, the chairman of the CAN coalition in the state and Vicar of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Nkpor, Rumuolumeni, Hon. Rev. Peter W. Georgewill noted that the governor’s victory was worth celebrating considering the political travails he was subjected to which led to the nullification of his mandate by both the Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
He attributed the Governor’s victory to God’s divine intervention to save the state from disintegration. Rev. Georgewill recalled that prior to the Supreme Court verdict, the Governor had taken the matter to God in prayers by hosting the first ever Rivers State Carol Night in December last year tagged “Hossana 2015” where Christians and Men of God from various denominations across the state gathered to praise God and pray for peace in the state and success of the Wike’s administration which God answered through the Supreme Court verdict.
He stressed that now that the battle has been lost and won, the coast is now clear for the Governor to give the good people of Rives State the desired democratic dividends of his administration without further distractions.
Rev. Georgewill who is also a member of the CAN, Rivers State and the Pilgrims Board appealed to the Governor to be magnanimous in victory and carry everybody along  irrespective of party affiliations.
Apart from the religious celebrations, fun seekers and members of the Ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other residents of the state also had fun as they were seen in their favourite entertainment hangouts jubilating, drinking and dancing as a result of the landmark judgement, while the operators of the joints smiled to the banks as a result of the crowd of customers that patronised them within the period of the celebrations.
