Wike: Pensoners Hail Supreme Court, Call For Pay Increase

Pensioners in Rivers State
have appealed to  Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to implement the amended provisions for pension increase as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.
The pensioners, made the appeal in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Rivers State Chapter, Comrade Edward Festus – Abibo and comrade Joseph J. Agbo which was presented to the governor during a solidarity visit at Government House, in Port Harcourt.
According to the pensioners, it is shameful that for several years previous administrations before Wike’s government refused to implement the pension increase, despite the huge financial resources at their disposal.
The pensioners, who commended Governor Wike for paying their monthly pension,  allowances upto date pleaded with the Governor to come to their rescue by implementing the 1999 constitution.
The pensioners also lauded the Supreme Court for upholding the election of Governor Wike, describing the verdict as a victory for peace and state development.
They assured the governor of their support at all times and wished him well.
They also assured the Governor, of their support to build the state in the face of God fearing and respect to elders for peace and development.
