Sports Minister Inspects Facilities In C’River
The Minister for Youth
and Sports, Solomon Dalong, weekend, visited Calabar, the Cross River State capital for facility tour ahead of the forth coming National Sports Festival.
Dalong disclosed this while speaking to Journalists at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport Calabar.
The Sports Minister maintained that they are in Calabar to attend an annual meeting which would enable them to take a critical view on issues that pertain to sports and perhaps see how progress can be made and proffer solutions as to find a way forward in sports administration in Nigeria.
The Sports Minister explained that, “the National Council of Sports meeting is an extra ordinary session and more or less a one item agenda meeting which would look into the issue of the National sports festival in the National Youth games and thereafter we shall equally undertake an inspection of facilities in Cross River in furtherance of the hosting rights which has been conferred on them to hold the national sporting festival.”
The Sports Minister added that the annual meeting is going to enable the ministry access their level of preparedness to host the games and move into technical session to decide on very critical issues that has to do with sporting administration in the country.
The Sports Minister and his entourage later undertook the inspection tour of the Calabar stadium and other sports facilities within the State capital.
