Following the Supreme
Court’s verdict which affirmed the victory of Governor Nyesom Wike at the governorship polls in Rivers State, the Paramount Ruler and Nyenwe-Eli of Oginigba Community, in Obio / Akpor Local Government Area, Eze G.B. Odum (JP), has advised politicians across the political divides and their supporters to avoid anything that is capable of threatening the peace in the state.
Eze Odum, who made the appeal in a chat with newsmen at his Palace in Oginigba community said there was need for all Rivers people to embrace peace and reconciliation at this time and to remember that what the state needed most was development and progress.
The monarch further noted that the victory of Governor Wike at the Supreme Court was a precursor of peace for the state instead of bloodshed, violence and destruction of lives and property, stressing that God’s intervention in the affairs of the state simply called for sober reflection and deep introspection of His love for the state.
The monarch therefore averred that Wike’s victory at the Supreme Court was a clarion call for all Rivers people to avoid making unguarded utterances and statements that were capable of destroying all that God had done through the instrumentality of the judiciary.
He said by the Supreme Court’s pronouncements, God had saved the state from bloodshed, violence and senseless destruction of the lives and property of innocent citizens, owing to the fact that potlical tension had already pervaded the state before the ruling of the apex court.
Eze Odum also stressed the need for winners to be magnanimous in victory, adding that this is indeed a time for Rivers people and politicians to come together and work for the collective interest of the state.
While congratulating Governor Wike on his Supreme Court’s victory, Eze Odum urged all Rivers people to rally round the present administration and support all policies and programmes of government geared towards improving the lives and wellbeing of the people.
He said “since all governments on earth are instiuted by God, the people must therefore learn to support and pray for their leaders.”
