Rivers Directs MDAs To Submit Nominal Roll, Vouchers Or Forfeit Feb Salary

The Rivers State Government has directed all government ministries, department and agencies MDAs to submit its normal roll and vouchers to the Ministry of Finance latest Friday or forfeit this month’s salary.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol, during a meeting with top officials of MDAs said, the move is to curb fraudulent practices discovered in the payment of salaries of civil servants and also ensure that only genuine civil servants are paid.
Kpakol also said the over N6billion spent on payment of civil servants alone is affecting the finances of the state.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol, also said civil servants in the employ of the state government is on the increase compared to other states.
On his part, the Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Oris Onyiri, said the state government is already discovering funds following its decision to audit the civil service.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting also attended by the Head of the Civil Service, Rufus Godwin, with a committee set up to audit all government ministries, department and agencies MDAs.
