The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, has advised Christians to use the period of lent to intercede for the peace, stability and prosperity of the State and the Nation.
Banigo, in a statement by her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, said the lent period leading to Easter Celebration is another opportunity for Christians to seek the face of God for the economic renaissance of the nation and peaceful re-run elections for the National and State Assemblies in the state.
She urged Rivers people to rekindle faith in God, noting that with the Supreme Court verdict, the state government was now poised to provide an accelerated infrastructural development that would impact on the lives of the people.
The deputy governor also called on security agencies to work in tandem with traditional institutions, religious leaders as well as community youth leaders in tackling security issues in the state.
Banigo, therefore, urged those involved in acts capable of causing disaffection and disunity in the state to desist from such acts in the interest of the state and embrace the reconciliatory efforts of the state government.
