Go-Round/SWAN Athletics: Phalga Emerges Overall Best

Government Area (PHALGA) has emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Goround/SWAN athletics champions held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
PHALGA clinched top position with five gold, two silver and two bronze medals while, Okrika and Ahoada West came second and third position respectively.
Also, Omubo Dickson and Nyeke Glory have received  cash award of N50,000 each for the best athletes award, from Okrika and Ahoada West Local Government Areas in the 4×100 meters boys and girls.
PHALGA received the sum of two million naira (N2 million) from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Nweke and sponsor Bro Felix Obuah.
Wike Baberichi also cart home the most disciplined athlete of the competition award from the National President Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
The sponsor, also gave twenty million naira (N20m) to the best 20 athletes in the competition, as well as scholarships to the university level .
However, the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) authority promised automatic admission as part of their contribution to the Goround/SWAM Athletic Competition .
The climax of the occasion was the presentation of medals, trophies and awards to participants and eventual winner of the competition.
The event was well attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, also witnessed the presence of the deputy governor Dr Ipalibo Banigo, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports Sir, Micheal Nordi and others.
