Dangote Construc
tion Company, a subsidiary of Dangote Group is to reconstruct the Lagos Ports Complex access road popularly called Wharf Road to ease free flow of traffic.
The construction work which had already been approved by the Federal Government is expected to run from the Apapa Port gates to the Apapa Area ‘B’ Police Station.
The Tide gathered that the project which is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will commence this week as a seven-day ultimatum given to occupants of the right of way to evacuate expires.
It was also gathered that all owners of bill boards, service cables, utility pipes and other related services along the right of way are also affected by the order, and a temporary location has been provided under the Ijora bridge for all transport and haulage operators in Apapa.
For a hitch-free project execution, the Apapa Police Command and their Nigeria Railway Corporation  (NRC) counterparts have been contacted to ensure adequate security to enable the contractors execute the project as schedule.
The office of the Federal Controller of Works, Housing and Urban Development in Lagos appealed to all stakeholders to assist the construction firm.
It would be recalled that the Lagos Port access road had been a dead-trap due to its dilapidated nature. With the reconstruction of the road,  the incessant traffic gridlock common in the area would be a thing of the past.
