Cricket League Prepares Players For Tournament
One of the
organisers of the on-going 2016 edition of the Port Harcourt Cricket League (CL), Tonye Timinadi, has said that the league is in preparation for future championships.
Timinadi said this on Sunday, shortly after one of the league games played between Benvic Cricket Club and K-11 Cricket Club at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) cricket pitch Choba.
According to him, the C L which is going on amongst the four cricket clubs in the state: Benvic, panthers, K-11 and Whales Cricket Club would also help to prepare them ahead of forthcoming cricket tournaments at the national level.
“The league has been good and of standard too, this would further fortify the state cricketers in their preparations for championships a head”, Timinadi said.
Meanwhile, Benvic narrowly beat K-11 by 2 wickets in the 120 version played n Sunday.
The most valuable player (MVP) award was won by Tonye Timinadi of Bevic having scored a total of 35 runs.
However, Panthers thrashed Whales by 136 runs to win the matched at the weekend.
