One of Nigeria represen-
tatives in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, Nasarawa United, will host Senegal cup holders Generation Foot in Abuja on Sunday in a preliminary round first leg game.
Generation Foot is a lower division team and surprised everyone in Senegal by winning the Cup at the expense of top favourites Casa Sports 4-3.
This is their first time on the continent, while Nasarawa United is participating in CAF Confederation Cup for the second time, the first being in 2007, when they had crashed out in the Champions League.
Nasarawa United newly signed midfielder Ichul Lordson said they will make the most of home advantage on Sunday.
“I know they will come out stronger to get goals against us here even if they don’t win, I am very sure they will be all out for an away goal but we won’t allow for this,” he said.
“I don’t know anything about the team, I think the management is doing everything possible to get their clips, so I am sure when we watch their clips it will help a little.
“But in the end, it’s all about the 90 minutes on the pitch that’s says how well you know your opponents.”
Nasarawa have signed several top players to fortify last season’s squad, namely Lordson, Abdulrahman Bashir, Douglas Achiv and Nigeria ‘B’ international defender Samson Gbadebo.
