R-L: Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Senator David Umaru, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Ark Wright, Attoney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) and Chief , Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, at the First Annual Conference on Financial Fraud, Cyber Crime and Cross -Border Crimes organised by Digital Forensics Ltd., in Abuja, recently.

A Port Harcourt-
based lawyer, J. P. Ebenezer Esq, has described the card reader as a colossal waste of the nation’s resources.
Ebenezer Esq., who stated this while speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt yesterday, noted that by the Supreme Court decision on the use of the card reader, it had been consigned to the rubbish heap of history.
He, however, noted that the decision of the Supreme Court had underscored the employment of electoral hooliganism.
Ebenezer also stated that despite people’s view of the Supreme Court decisions, they would remain binding as case laws. According to him, “the decision of the Supreme Court are binding on everybody in the country”.
He pointed out that it was necessary for the cardreader to be included in the Electoral Act so that it would have the force of law.
He expressed doubt that the National Assembly would pass on amended to Electoral Act making the Cardreader an integral part of the Act.
He said the decision of the Supreme Court was based on the fact that the Cardreader was not known to the Electoral Act.
