Business Booms As Party Holds Wike’s Victory Service
There was business
boom for food vendors and others at the General Yakubu Gowon Sadium, formerly Libeation Stadium, Elekhia, Port Harcourt, venue for the inter-denominational Supreme Court Victory Thanksgiving Service in honour of the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike on Saturday.
The food vendors, who set-up their tents and canopies as early as Friday morning had a brisk business by customers in their large numbers, having their breakfast, launch and dinner, while it was a crowded session on Saturday, when people from all walks of life in and outside the state including those from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state came for the celebration.
The Tide Correspondent gathered that some food vendors exhausted their stocks as early as 12 noon while some, after finishing the first set of food, had to prepare another, in order to meet the demands of their customers, but still fell short.
Business Desk Correspondent also learnt that foods like rice, beans, yam, pepper soup, garri and soup, and akara, among others, were in high demand as people surrounded the dealers seeking to be served.
Those who came outside the stadium after the ceremony were highly disappointed as there were no food for them to buy and eat, while even the cold pure sachet water of N10 was no where to be found.
However, most people have to drink hot bottled or satchet water and minerals.
Other traders in PDP caps, emblems, mufflers, handkerchiefs and face-towels, pin-ups, and also horse riders had a field day during the ceremony.
However, one of the traders, Mrs Rose Chigozie who spoke to our correspondent confirmed that it was a business boom for the day.
