Tam-George Unveils Wike’s Dev Agenda

The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications,. Dr Austin Tam-George, has declared that integrated development across every nook and cranny of Rivers State is the centre-piece of the Chief Nyesom Wike’s administration under the New Rivers Vision.
Tam-George disclosed this during a familiarisation visit to some media outfits in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The Rivers State Information Commissioner, who paid a courtesy call on the management teams of the African Independent Television (AIT), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the  Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Port Harcourt, said the era of pollicisation of development in Rivers State was over.
The information commissioner said Rivers State was at a momentum time in its development history, and assured that new interface in government/media relations would be put in place to ensure that development in the state is pragmatic and holistic.
He said the Rivers State Government was attuned with its social contract with Rivers people, noting that community engagement models and approaches, such as town hall meetings would be put in place to ensure probity, accountability, stewardship and effective feedback mechanisms.
He said a special projects monitoring unit has been established at the Ministry of Information for effective appraisal of on-going projects, and pointed out that the Rivers State Government would embark on projects with direct bearing on the people.
The commissioner called for synergy between media outfits in Rivers State and the State Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
In his remarks, the Zonal Director, South-South Zone of FRCN, Engr Jonas Enechebe, thanked the commissioner for the visit, and assured the corporation’s support in the effective dissemination of information in the state.
Earlier, the Zonal Director, and General Manager, NTA, Port Harcourt, Mr Sunday Ibrahim Sawntong had also assured the commitment of NTA to the development of the state through its coverage and programme contents.
