Rivers State Government says it would leave no stone unturned in eliminating all hindrances in its effort at ensuring total service delivery that would place the state at the top amongst other states of the federation.
The State Information Commissioner, Hon Austine Tam-George gave the indication on Thursday, while addressing staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation in his first meeting with staff of parastatals under his Ministry in Port Harcourt.
The Commissioner said that money alone could not provide the required positive and sustainable changes for development, but credible leadership with resourceful management.
He expressed the needs to rejig the state newspaper corporation in line with the modern technology system for easy access to and delivery of timely information.
The Commissioner, who expressed disappointment over the un-conducive working environment of the corporation, made it clear that it would no longer be business as usual and urged the management and staff to put in extra effort to revamp the newspaper.
He stressed the need for better working tools like an e-library and other modern communication accessories required for better information management.
The Information Commissioner however commended the Corporation for the quality reports published and journalism practiced, describing some of the columns in The Tide as highly professional and second to very few in the country.
He warned against lateness and absenteeism, reiterating that the state government’s commitment to give a face-lift to the Corporation was no time with the new Rivers vision of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Hon. Tam-George, who expressed disappointment over the work ethnics of his predecessor, said his administration would not use part of state media organs to deceive the public for political reasons.
He said, his tenure would only defend and deliver verifiable information based on facts on projects and programmes recorded  physically and not those not seen.
Speaking the General Manager of the corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo commended the Information Commissioner for his deep concern and readiness to inject innovations to make the Corporation a modern technology- driven information organ.
Mr Ogolo, who presented some of the  challenges confronting the Corporation, however listed some achievements recorded under his administration as General Manager.
