The Enugu Rangers board has named former Green Eagles’ captain, Christian Chukwu as new Technical Director of the team among other new appointments into the technical and management staff ahead of the new season after recent interviews conducted by the board in Enugu.
According to media officer Foster Chime, other new appointees include Barrister Amobi Ezeaku as Team Manager, Emeka Amadi as Sporting Director while Patrick Nwaorji and Ignatius Okafor are the new scouting manager and marketing manager in that order.
Chime said that the appointments were made after thorough and exhaustive interviews conducted for those that applied for the various positions advertised by the board.
In a related development, Rangers stormed Benin City on Tuesday morning to commence a two-week pre-season close camping in readiness for the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League kick-off in February.
The team comprising 45 old and new players, five technical officials, four support staff and two management staff, is expected to engage some Nationwide, National League and NPFL clubs in friendly matches while in the Edo State capital.
The team’s Technical Adviser, coach Imama Amapakabo said the choice of Benin is to avoid distraction and to allow the players to concentrate fully.
“We are in Benin for serious business and we are grateful to the state government for the choice of this nice place. We will make the two weeks camping count and there won’t be time for tardiness of any kind at all,” Amapakabo said.
