Peace Process Excites Kaani Community

Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was agog as the community celebrated the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Service to mark the return of peace in the community.
The event which was organised by the Bua Kaani Council of Chiefs and Elders, in conjunction with the Bua Kaani Church Leaders Forum, (BUKCLEF) at the Community Town hall, featured special prayer sessions, praises and Thanksgiving.
Addressing the people at the Thanksgiving ceremony, the Mene Bua Kaani, HRH Godwin B. Apere, expressed gratitude to God for the return of lasting peace in Kaani Community.
The Royal father described Kaani Community as one of the leading communities in Khana LGA, but regretted that Kaani had been denied of development over the years as a result of crisis.
The Royal father appealed to all stakeholders in the community, to sustain the peace process and emphasised that only lasting peace and reconciliation could bring development in the area.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Bua Kaani Church Leaders Forum, Pastor Peter Akere said the thanksgiving which was organised under the theme, “Restoration of the glory of Kaani” was to celebrate the mercies of God over the community, and to dedicate the Community to God in the New year.
He urged the youths to be vanguards of peace and not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destabilisation in the Community.
In his sermon, Pastor Adolphus Neeka Ngbee, described Kaani as a community of great potentials and urged the people to seek the presence of God at all times to restore the community to its past glory.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of a special award to a woman leader, Hon. Lady Gloria N. Ngozi, for her humanitarian services.
It would be recalled that Kaani Community was enmeshed in crisis over the years.
