The General Overseer,
Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has restated his commitment to support the less-privileged Nigerians wriggle out of poverty by assisting in the education of indigent ones in schools to enable them contribute their quota to national development.
The general overseer made this pledge at Ohanku, Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State while announcing the payment of the registration fees for the 2016 West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Senior School Certificate Examinations for 45 students of Ikwuorie Comprehensive Secondary School.
While presenting the WAEC forms last Monday to the students at the school premises in the full glare of parents, guardians, and school officials, Chinyere said he was moved by a distress call from the Principal of the institution, Dr Nnadozie Sophie Chikwere, that the school may lose the chance to participate in the 2016 WAEC examinations because of the likelihood that the parents of the students may be unable to pay the stipulated fees before the registration deadline due to the huge burden.
The OPM general overseer said that he decided to lift the burden off the parents because of his belief that the future of the students could not be jeopardized by the inability of their parents to pay for the WAEC registration fees, and promised to make the educational intervention scheme an annual programme in the area.
He used the occasion to order the immediate furnishing of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members’ lodge with a promise to augment the allowances of the corpers’ posted to the school.
The leader of the corps members, Mr. Pillar Joseph, who spoke on behalf of eight others, said they were humbled by the rear gesture of the OPM general overseer, and prayed God to continue to empower the pastor to do more for humanity.
Also speaking, some of the indigent students thanked the OPM pastor for his magnanimity, saying that his intervention has saved them from dropping out of school.
Miss Happiness Nnah, Miss Nnanna Gift, and Master Isreal Uchenna, said they had already resigned to hope and were preparing to join their parents’ occupation of farming, when they got calls that they should return to school because their WAEC fees have been paid by the Man of God, adding that the OPM general overseer has wiped away tears from their eyes.
In her remarks on behalf of parents of the students, Madam Justina Israel, said God has used Apostle Chinyere to lift the burden of the WAEC registration fees off their shoulders, and has given them hope that their children would now have the opportunity of pursuing their careers at higher levels of education, and contribute positively to the development of their communities, the state and nation.
She prayed God to continue to bless and direct the thoughts of the pastor and the church to add value to national rebirth and development for the good of posterity.
