Man Faces Prosecution Over Illegal Firearm Possession
A 21-year-old, Dadung
Bu1us, was recently charged with illegal possession of a firearm at a Jos Magistrates’ Court.
Following his plea of ‘not guilty’, Bulus was, however, granted bail in the sum ofN50, 000 with one surety, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of illegal possession of a firearm.
The prosecutor, ASP J. Idoko, told the court that the accused was caught with a bag containing one locally made revolver with four rounds of ammunition.
According to him, the accused was intercepted by the Police Special Task Force during a stop- and-search exercise at Gana Daji in Barki Ladi Local Government of Plateau on December 12.
“A locally made revolver and ammunition were found on him and the accused did not present any licence for the firearm.”
Idoko said the offence contravened Section 27 of the Firearms Act, 2004, Laws of Plateau.
The Magistrate, Mr Tijjani Zololo, adjourned the case to last January 18 for further hearing.
