LMC Lifts Ban On Akure Stadium
The Owena Waves will
be able to host their Nigeria topflight home games after the league organisers lifted their prohibition on the Akure ground.
Sunshine Stars home ban outside the Akure Township Stadium has been overturned by the League Management Company.
The league organisers clamped down heavily on the Owena Waves due to their fans unruly behaviour in last season’s Week 36 fixture against Lobi Stars.
An incident that saw the team barred from their dreaded enclave for a year and played their -. remaining home games in Lagos.
“I’m pleased to inform you that Sunshine Stars have been cleared to play their NPFL home games at the Akure Township Stadium,” media officer Wahab Bankole confirmed to Goal.
“This is cheering for us as it will boost our confidence level going into the new season.
“We have learnt our lessons and will do all it takes to prevent a repeat of the oecurrence that resulted to the initial LMC action,” he concluded.
Sunshine Stars hosts Akwa United in their first game of the season on February 21, 2016.
