How Miss Universe’s Host Goofed By Crowning Wrong Winner

Steve Harvey, the host of
last year’s Miss Universe Pageant had one job and was so close to a flawless finish, until he goofed by crowning the wrong winner.
The ‘family feud’ host first announced Miss Columbia, Arianda Gutierrez as Miss Universe 2015. He noticed his mistake and corrected, but only after Gutierrez was already crowned. The correct winner was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
He said Folks, I have to apologise to the crowd as he walked down the stage “the first runner-up is Miss Columbia, Miss Universe 2015 is Miss Phillipines. The crowd inside the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas resort and Casino theatre responded with a mix of boos and cheers, while the women on stage (contestants) stood in complete shock.
“Listen Folks let me just take control of this” the host tried to explain “this is exactly what’s on the card. I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake it was on the card, horrible mistake but the right thing’ he said. The host then tweeted an apology which only seemed to add fuel to the social media firestorm. He misspelt both Columbia and Philippines. The tweet has since been deleted but not before over 30,000 retweets.
At the very moment of Harvey’s mistake the internet exploded, complete chaos ensued in the form of videos, mimes, vibes and tweets with many more still to come.
