The Archbishop,
Anglican Arch Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has called for equitable distribution of the resources of the country in order to meet the needs of the youth.
Chukwuma, who made the call in an interview with newsmen in Enugu said all could not be well in a country, where some Nigerians had so much and talking of millions, billions of naira, while others were suffering.
On the agitation by some youths in some parts of the country, Chukwuma said that such a development was caused by series of failed government promises to the youths by previous administrations.
Chukwuma also attributed the action of the concerned youth to “frustration and economic disconnect.
“You see, hunger brings anger; and a hungry man is an angry man. That’s why you find so many of these children protesting and asking for Biafra.
“It is not that they are looking for Biafra: they are not asking for it, it is because they are frustrated. They are agitating for recognition of their lives and talents in the governance of the country,” he said.
Chukwuma called on government at all levels to restore the confidence of the youths in governance.
He added that this would be possible if those in power would be keeping to their promises and implementing people-oriented programmes, tailored toward meeting the needs and aspirations of youths.
