Chairman, Ondo State
Sports Council (OSSC) Gbenga Jegede, yesterday in Akure donated some sporting facilities to the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Presenting the equipment to the council, Jegede said that facilities were to serve as means of recreation for journalists in the state. Jegede, however, stressed that the donation was personal. Tidesports reports that the facilities included those for table tennis, scrabble, chess and Ayo, while the donor promised to add drought facilities to them soon. He said that he had always been in close contact with NUJ members in the state and knew the importance of sports to health of journalists even before becoming the sports council chairman. “Considering the health implication of the kind of activities you engage in with your brain, you will need something to relax with. “The presentation is personal; it is not official. I believe you will need it and I acted on the information I got. “I have been partnering with NUJ and I have had no cause to regret it,” he said. Receiving the facilities, Chairman, Ondo State Chapter of NUJ Mr James Sowole,  thanked Jegede for the gesture. Sowole advised NUJ members to facilitate such good gestures from members of the public to move the union forward. “We want people to support us, the union has no major source of income, but we are trying to move the state forward in all ramifications, “he said.
