Warri Wolves coach Paul
Aigbogun and former FC IfeanyiUbah handler Mitko Dobrev are now the front runners to replace Kadiri Ikhana at champions Enyimba.
Enyimba has announced that Ikhana’s contract will not be extended in the new year.
Aigbogun, who is still in London with his family, was two years ago assistant to Salisu Yusuf at Enyimba.
He has been widely credited with the impressive showing of Wolves this past season as they finished runners-up to qualify to play in next year’s CAF Champions League.
Bulgarian Dobrev was behind IfeanyiUbah’s early surge on the table before he was surprisingly sacked by the Nnewi club.
He has handled Ghana’s Asante Kotoko as well as Heartland.
Enyimba are believed to have been in touch with his Nigerian agent.
Meanwhile, Enyimba has continued to re-organise for the new year by dropping defender Bright Esieme, Chimeze Amanfor and Emeka Nwanna ‘Ayaya’.
Last season, Esieme struggled to pin down a first-team place after he featured at the 2014 CHAN in South Africa.
Enyimba loaned out the league’s first million Naira signing ‘Ayaya’ to local rivals Abia Warriors till the end of the season in August.
Chima Uluocha has ended his loan move with Enyimba to return to Abia Warriors where he was captain.
Coming in the opposite direction is Warri Wolves hard man Mine Ojo, who has played for Enugu Rangers and Heartland.
The club has also released defender Markson Ojobo after he violated the club’s code of conduct, officials have disclosed.
