Abia Warriors Start Pre-Season, Wins First Match

Boboye’s men trounced their local rivals on Wednesday ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League season kick-off
Nigeria topflight side Abia Warriors defeated rivals New Generation Football Club 5-0 at the Township Stadium in their first pre-season game.
Goals from Sheriff Bashir, Kalu Nweke, Esobe Chukwudi, Elvis Okoroafor and Ajayi Musa were all the Umuahia based team needed to cruise to victory in the match which was coach Kennedy Boboye’s first since appointment after leaving Sunshine Stars.
The Warriors placed 10th last season having gathered 53 points from 38 matches and they are keen hope to improve on that when the league commences.
Coach Boboye expressed his happiness with his team’s performance and also promised that more friendlies would be played to enhance the team’s preparation before the season kicks-off.
Also, chairman of the club, Emeka Inyama believes the side would do well and has tasked them to secure a place in the continent next year.
