The Police management team and the Police Service Commission have decided to put on hold the ongoing screening exercise of policemen who acquired Degree/HND while in service.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, said the decision was based on allegation of malpractices and innuendoes going around.
Kolawole said the Inspector General of Police, Solomon E. Arase, announced the suspension of the exercise on December 24, 2015 during a meeting with the Police Management Team.
Arase was said to have told the meeting that the exercise has been put on hold after consultation with the PSC.
The Police High Command and the PSC have thus decided to engage the services of independent assessor for neutrality and a free exercise.
When the exercise is completed, Kolawole said, each state of the federation will have equal number of representation.
Arase enjoined all qualified policemen to be patient and ensure they attend the oncoming screening exercise to be scheduled by the independent body.
He promised that all qualified policemen will be considered appropriately.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the promotion exercise in the Nigeria police Force.
