Vigilante Group Decorates 35 Officers With New Ranks
The Rivers State com
mand of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, has decorated 35 officers of the organisation with new ranks.
The officers were decorated by the Rivers State Commander of the vigilante outfit, Pastor Humphrey Opuada Gally and his deputy, Comrade Chukwuka Osumah at the state secretariat of the body in Oyigbo yesterday.
Pastor Gally, while addressing the officers after decorating them with their new ranks noted that the vigilante group was a credible and respectable organisation which provides security and other services to members of the public.
While urging the officers to see their elevation as a clarion call for more dedicated and selfless services to the society, the state commander stressed the need for them to work harder and take their duties seriously.
He posited that with their new ranks, a new window of opportunities had been opened for them to discharge their duties responsibly and effectively, stressing that they now have no reason not to garner respect and honour from other security agencies in the state and members of the public.
He said, there were now a lot of openings for them to excel and to diligently discharge their duties and enjoined them to be disciplined at all times.
Pastor Gally further disclosed that arrangement had been concluded for members of the vigilante group to provide security during the monthly sanitation exercise across the state and at other public fora, adding that with their new ranks, the perception of the officers about the security outfit must change for good, describing it as a very important and relevant security organisation.
He, however, indicated that the body was still operating as a voluntary organisation for now, as its members were not paid stipends or salaries by the government and solicited for logistic support from public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to enable it to continue to discharge its obligations to the society.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Deputy Commander of the body, Comrade Chukwuka Osumah congratulated the officers on their elevation and urged them to work harder to justify their promotion.
He said the elevation of the officers did not mean that they would not be demoted if they did not live up to expectation.
