The candidate of the
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Chief Victor Umeh, has expressed his readiness to test his popularity in the rerun election.
Speaking with newsmen in Awka,  Umeh said that the nullification of the March 28 poll in the area by the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu which ordered for a rerun had presented the people with another opportunity to vote their choice candidate.
He said he had no doubt that nobody would enjoy undue advantage in the turn of event, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari would not tolerate electoral brigandage.
“I will humbly go back to the electorate with my track record, my resilience as a crusader of my people, my people are sure of what to get from me and that is to make their voice heard.
“Those who were celebrating that they won can come back and face the people. I am sure when the election comes, nobody will have undue advantage over anybody again.
“I am sure the era is gone when people in Abuja ordered that a certain candidate be delivered,” Umeh said.
The former APGA national chairman also commended the court for the judgement, adding that it was in line with the prayers in his petition.
“When I went to the tribunal, I said I came to fight election brigandage and banditry. I am glad that the new Federal Government has shown that they are willing to see that things are done the right way,” he said.
The appeal tribunal in Enugu on December 7 nullified the election that threw up Sen. Uche Ekwunife of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP to represent the zone.
