Subscribers Bemoan NCC’s SIM Re-Registration
The Nigerian Com
munication Commission (NCC) has been called to put on hold its flagging of subscribers numbers due to incomplete SIM Card registration exercise.
The Airtel subscribers, Mr Princewill Monday and Mrs Rita Azunda in a chat with The Tide Wednesday in Port Harcourt, said the exercise should be put on hold due to the level of hardship in the country.
Princewill explained that any flagged number may not be eligible to receive calls until a proper registration exercise was perfected.
He said if the regulatory body bars any subscriber’s line this period that it may pose serious threat to business this rushing hours of the year.
“Around 12.00 hours on Wednesday, my network provider just sent me this SMS “valued one, your number has been flagged by NCC for incomplete SIM Registration, kindly re-register your SIM At any Airtel outlet to avoid service disconnection”, he said.
Also in her view Azunda said the action by NCC came too late when business activities have almost been rounded off for the year.
She regretted that even the regulatory body could not come up with something substantive on how to register SIM cards.
The subscriber, suggested SIM card registration should be done at the point of purchase to avoid double exercise.
Users of other networks, like MTN and Glo, said they are also experiencing same situation, and that it was discouraging.
The subscribers, Joy Ugoh, Henry Ordu and others, hinted that the re-registration exercise was one way to take seriousness on the side of the NCC.
