Traders in South East say
they are in full support of the agitations of Indigenes People of Biafra (IPOB).
Reacting to last Wednesday’s protest in Onitsha that shut down all markets in the commercial city, the President General of the South East Amalgamated Traders  Association, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo said, the association has discovered that members of the IPOB are real agitators who are protesting legitimately like other people of the world who are agitating for their right but regretted that some miscreants took the advantage to unleash mayhem and terror on the innocent people of Nigerians.
The market union leader denied receiving any bribe from any quarters to disassociate itself from the activities of the IPOB as was made public before now. He said that the association was not happy with the way some hoodlums and miscreants who took the opportunity to intimidate, harass and extort money and even destroyed peoples property in the name of protest for Biafra.
“See what these miscreants did to people in Onitsha, closing their shops, destroying their properties, stealing their money and setting ablaze vehicles and a house of worship.”
“We have discovered that those who are behind these atrocities are not members of IPOB but miscreants who have nothing doing rather looking for where they will reap without sowing.”
“How can somebody come and close markets without informing the people who are the leaders of the markets.” It is unacceptable to us and that is one of the reason we disassociate ourselves from the activities of IPOB.
Meanwhile, the leader of the movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralf Uwazurike has denied the allegation leveled against him that he was involved in the protest carried out in the South East and South-South geo-political zones of Nigeria, saying that the IPOB and Uchenna Madu-led faction of the MASSOB should rather be held responsible for the protests that caused death of five people and destruction of properties.
He accused Madu and his cronies of being by politicians to tarnish the image of MASSOB because they were expelled from MASSOB because they were expelled from MASSOB over anti MASSOB activities.
Uwazurike who spoke through his personal Assistant, Comrade Emmanuel Omenika, pointed out that Madu was expelled in 2014 as a result of anti MASSOB activity.
