RSG Assigns More Courts For EFCC Cases …To Drive Anti-Corruption War

The Rivers State Judiciary is to designate more courts to handle cases being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three courts are currently designated to try cases initiated by the EFCC to ease trail of corruption cases.
The Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Daisy Okocha said this when the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu paid her a courtesy visit in her chambers in Port Harcourt.
Justice Okocha advised that EFCC operatives could help the courts to function better by conducting speedy and holistic investigations simultaneously, presenting charge sheets that are faithful to the laws and the facts and by speedy response to court sitting and processes.
Speaking earlier, the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu said the purpose of his visit was to seek synergy with the judiciary in the fight against corruption.
The EFCC Chairman who expressed delight at the re-opening of courts in Rivers State requested expeditious trial of corruption cases, including the designation of more courts for that purpose.
Mr. Magu pledged that the EFCC would be amenable to advice and direction by the judiciary so that it would be more efficient in the prosecution of corruption cases.
The courtesy visit was followed by an interactive session between the EFCC team and the Judges of the Rivers State judiciary handling EFCC matters.
