Octogenarian Tasks FG On Aggressive Agric Policy
The Chairman/Chief Ex
ecutive Officer of the LAGOSOGUN Mineral and Farm Resources Limited, Pa. Davies Ganiyu, has called on the Federal Government to tackle the dwindling economy through prioritizing agriculture.
Pa Davies who gave the advice in Lagos recently at a public function said attaching much importance to agriculture would boost the nation’s dwindling economy and provide enough food for the citizenry.
The octogenarian and former Chief cameraman of NTA further explained that the move would also enhance the nation’s foreign exchange through cash crops and make it a major revenue earner.
“The only solution to the country’s economic problem is for Nigerians to revive agriculture which used to be Nigeria’s economic mainstay and can stop importation of food items”, he said.
Pa Davies said that the Buhari administration should take a cue from the late Chief Awolowo’s agricultural policy by establishing farm settlements, rubber plantation and boosting food production and cash crops for export.
He added that Lagos Ogun was ready to partner with any organization in order to revive agriculture in the area of animal husbandry, fishing, cash crops, food crops and ranches for herdsmen to feed their animals.
According to him, the economic, security and social situation in the country called for an emergency action in the agriculture sector.
