New RVHA’s Speaker Takes Oath
The lawmaker representing Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Adams Dabotor Udimh, has taken oath of office as the news Speaker of the House, following the resignation of the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ikuniyi-Owaji Ibani.
Hon. Dabotorudimh emerged Speaker of the House last Friday, at plenary session presided over by member representing Port Harcourt Constituency 111 Hon. Victor Ihunwo, as Speaker pro-tempore.
The new Speaker, who got the speakership mandate by 23 votes against none, was immediately sworn-in by the Clerk of the house, Mr. Oba Standford.
In his acceptance speech, Rt. Hon. Dabotorudimh promised to provide transparent and effective leadership for the benefits of their constituents.
The new Speaker, who expressed shock over the resignation of Rt. Hon. Ibani, described him as a vibrant and listeneing leader.
He promised to sustain the legacies of his predecessor, saying that the 8th Assembly had already drawn its plan in line with the developmental agenda of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Meanwhile, prior to the resignation of the former Speaker, of the house had approved N307,000,000,000.00 earlier presented to it by the Governor Nyesom Wike as 2016 budget for the state.
Rt. Hon. Ibani advised members of the House to maintain the existing spirit of team-work to give the state the much required face-lift.
Rt. Hon. Ibani explained that the quick passage appropriation bill was to avoid any delay in the implementation and execution of both on-going and new projects in 2016.
He appealed to the executive to implement the budget accordingly.
