The National Emergency
Management Agency (NEMA), says it has stationed its ambulances in the South-East to deal with emergency that might arise from protests embarked upon by the pro-Biafra agitators.
The South-East Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr James Eze, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Enugu, recently.
Eze also said that the agency had also put its staff on the alert to respond to possible emergency that might arise from the protests.
Our correspondent reports that for some weeks now, the zone has witnessed series of protest by the agitators, who are mostly youths from the zone.
Eze, however, described the protests and agitation as a wake-up call on the state governments in the South-East to provide jobs for their teeming youths.
“The major lesson for us to learn from the series of protests is the lack of jobs for the teeming youths in the zone.
“The South-East governors should seriously look into creating jobs and workplaces since idle youths are easily used for such disturbing protests.
“It is appalling for graduate youths in the zone to be roaming streets, neighbourhoods and villages without work for over 10 years,’’ he said.
Eze also said that the agency was collaborating with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to prevent gridlock in the zone as the Christmas and New Year festivities approach.
“The operation will also involve the agency in moving its medical vans and team to strategic road corridors in the zone to attend to motorists who need medical attention while on the roads.
“We’re  at Niger Bridge, 9th Mile Corner, Obollo and Enugu-Port Harcourt Road,’’ he added
