Gunmen Kill Another Monarch In Ahoada

tional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze David Chukwudi Ene, Eze Uchi Ekpeye Logbo I of Ekpeye land has been allegedly assassinated in cold blood by unknown gunmen Wednesday 9th December 2015, at his country home Ekpena community in Ahoada East Local Governor Area.
This came barely 2 months when his counterpart HRH Eze Collins Alali, Eze Emene Ekamini I of Igbu Orlurwor of Ekpeye land died in similar circumstances while cruising home in his Utility Sports Vehicle (USV) Jeep. His remain is still lying cold in the mogue; his bereaved family is mourning and feeling the vacuum created by the sudden death of the breadwinner.
For the Eze Uchi of Ekpeye Logbo who was said to be hale and hearty, having his midday siesta, little did he know that tragedy was lurking around.
It was reported that two gunmen ridding on motorcycle stormed his residence in a broad day and shot him direct at the chest and head; he slumped and died instantly.
Conforming the incident,  his first son said, Mr Alex David Ene he was at Ahoada on that fateful afternoon, about to refresh in one of the hotels at Ahoada, when his phone rang, informing him of his father’s sudden death.
According to Mr Alex, two gunmen at about 2:30pm packed their motorcycle at the entrance of his father’s house and headed immediately to their compound; as one of his siblings noticed the seeming danger, ran quickly into the room where his father was napping, woke him up and alerted him of the imminent danger.
He said, rather than to take cover, the unsuspecting Ene rushed out with the sleepy eyes only to meet the blood thirsty men who did not waste the slighted chance releasing two gun shots at a close range on him, resulting to his sudden death.
The son noted that the assassins mounted on their motorcycle, shooting severally on the air as they zoomed away; adding that the body has been sent to an undisclosed mortuary.
Meanwhile, confidential sources revealed that the sudden gun down of Eze Uchi Ekpeye Logbo was not unconnected with the killing of some of the cultists in the area while they were in their clandestine meeting at Ekpena community.
Snippet information garnered by our correspondent disclosed that Eze D. C. Ene surreptitiously contacted the police that dislodged members of the cult gang, and sent four of the cultists to their early grave on the 9th of December 2015.
You would that Eze Ene was coronated Eze Uchi Logbo I of Ekpeye land on the 5th September 2015; until his recent installation, Eze D. C. Ene has held other prominent positions such as Uchi family Chief of Ekpena community, title Chief in Akoh clan, High Chief in Ekpeye land, and Secretary Ekpeye council of traditional rulers and chiefs among others.
However, Ekpena, a small village near Ahoada town accommodated many people doing business or working at Ahoada were said to be enveloped in perpetual fear; some residents have started relocating to other villages following a wide spread rumour that the die hard men would launch a general catastrophic attack on the Ekpena residents.
The Tide learnt that on 13th September 2015, the underworld handed down an ultimatum to the residents that unless they pay the sum of N250,000 or risk deserting the village. This condition was met; the ransom paid before the residents achieved relative peace.
Meanwhile, some prominent chiefs in Ekpeye land who spoke to our correspondent have expressed shock, noting that nobody knows the next to be killed as the killing, robbery, rape and kidnap continued to reign in all nooks and crannies of Ekpeye. Police denied any knowledge of the incident when our correspondent contacted them on phone.
