Ex-Lawmaker Urges Communities To Remain United

eral House of Representative, Hon. Edwin Oludi has urged the people of Oro-Owo Community and other communities in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to remain united as a people and not to allow political views to bring division among them.
Hon. Oludi who represented Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in 1999 – 2003 in the lower Chambers stated this recently when the leadership of Oro-Owo Community in Obio/Akpor conferred him with an award of Excellency, said no community can be developed when there is an atmosphere of communal violence,
He called on the youths to always shun violence and maintain the existing peace in the local government and entire Rivers State.
The former lawmaker commended the community members for recognising him as their son worthy to be honoured.
He further restated his assured commitment to ensuring the development of the community.
Speaking, the Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman of Oro-Owo, Amadi Obochikwele said the award was given because of his outstanding contributions to the development of the community, adding that other distinguished sons and daughters of the community were also given various awards for the roles they played.
The highlight of the event were the launching of the community calendar and presentation of wards to the families of fallen heroes, who lost their lives during the Oro-Owo struggles.
