Commission Warns Civil Servants Against Corrupt Practices

Commission has warned civil servants in the state against promotion of corrupt practices in the state.
Chairman of the commission, Chief Oris Onyiri who said this while declaring open the 2015 seminar of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Rivers State chaper also urged them to be honest in the delivery of government services to the people.
Chief Onyiri who was represented by a commissioner in the commission, Dr G.A.I. Nworgu, also described the theme of the seminar which is, “The Potentials of Cooperative Society in Enhancing Financial Inclusion of Civil Servants” as appropriate, adding that joining cooperatives will enhance the welfare of civil servants.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Finance, Dr Fred Kpakol described the seminar as timely in view of the current economic situation in the country.
The commissioner who was represented by his Special  Assistant, Mr Tambari Nyama  said that now that  the economy was nose diving, civil servants should think of something to improve themselves.
Also speaking, the Acting Chairman of the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRLS), Sir Alawari Ndu urged civil servants to explore alternative means of improving their income.
Sir Ndu who was represented by Mr Ovy Chukwuma expressed optimism that the programme would be a turning point for civil servants in the state . Earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Rivers State, Comrade Austin Jonah said that the leadership of the union is dialoguing with the state government with a view to seeing the undesirability of the contributory pension scheme.
