Baseball, Softball To Re-Strategise

The Nigeria Baseball and
Softball Association (NBSA), said on yesterday that it would re-strategise to put the sport on the right-track in 2016.
The association, in a statement in Lagos, said the decision was taken at its executive meeting held in Ilorin on December 5.
According to the statement, Victor Fingesi, the president of NBSA, said the body will look outward for support to enhance the sport in the country.
It said that the NBSA could no longer depend on support within the country to sustain the development of the sport.
“Getting support to organise programmes is a major challenge and we understand the current situation in the country.
“The only way we can conquer this is to look outward and get support in any form from countries that are actively involved in baseball and softball.
“Ghana, for instance, is getting support from Japan in baseball and softball; nothing stops Nigeria from doing the same thing.
“So, in 2016, we will be looking outward for support to move this sport forward,’’ the statement said.
According to the statement, Felicia Kisira, the vice-president, softball and wife of the Kwara State Deputy Governor, charged NBSA members to remain dedicated to the objective of the body.
It added that it was through collective efforts that the sport could be given a new lease of life.
“We have a lot to do as members of this board and the only way we can be successful is to work in one accord to actualise our goal,’’ the statement quoted Kisira as saying.
