Banigo Applauds Security On Ogbakiri-Abonnema Road
Rivers State Deputy
Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says it is heart-warming to note that security has improved along the Ogbakiri-Abonnema Road since the marching order by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
In a statement through her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, Dr. Banigo emphasised the need for stakeholders across the four local government areas in the axis of the Ogbakiri-Abonnema Road to synergise with security agents in fighting kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
She explained that the directive of the Governor was an indication of his determination to protect lives and property of all Rivers people and advised criminal-minded persons in the area to engage in meaningful ventures that would add value to their lives as hard times await anyone apprehended.
The Deputy Governor appealed to the Federal Government to ensure adequate funding of the police to enable it perform its statutory function of protecting lives and property, stressing that the state government would continue to assist security agencies to maintain law and order in the State.
In another development, Dr. Banigo had condoled with the families of innocent persons who lost their lives and property in the reported cult related clashes in communities in Egi land, and other areas in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
She urged the State Police Commissioner to personally wade into the investigations and ensure an end to such incidents.
